Between Seasons Park Reserve Photo Walk
Searching for Landscape & Wildlife Shots
This morning's photo walk at the Park Reserve began with a sense of muted colors and a seemingly "blah" landscape. The initial shots explored the contrast of trees on a hillside and the potential of sunlit scenes, though some compositions felt either cluttered or dominated by distracting elements. As the walk progressed into the open prairie, the change in scenery brought new photographic opportunities and challenges.
Panoramas captured the subtle shifts in the vast landscape, with varying degrees of success. Wildlife photography, particularly of geese and swans, proved to be a gamble, with focus and interesting compositions being key challenges. Despite the initial lack of vibrant color, the walk yielded some favorite shots, including layered landscapes and contrasting scenes of swans on a partially frozen river.
Ultimately, the four-and-a-half-mile walk highlighted the process of finding beauty in the ordinary, experimenting with different compositions and subjects, and the anticipation of seeing how the captured moments will translate in the final edits.
