Foggy Hike at Hyland Lake Park Reserve
Using the Fog for Atmospheric Photos
Despite a foggy start to the day, we decided to brave the elements and head out for a hike at Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington, MN. These park reserves boast thousands of acres of protected land, with only 20% designated for human use, making it a haven for wildlife and a photographer's dream.
The fog, while initially a concern, ended up adding a unique and atmospheric quality to the hike. I focused on capturing the beauty of the oak trees, their leaves retaining their vibrant colors even in winter. The fog enhanced these colors, creating a truly magical scene.
We explored the shorter loops within the Richardson Nature Center, encountering a variety of landscapes, from foggy forests to a frozen pond. We even spotted an eagle perched high in a tree, a testament to the park's rich biodiversity.
This hike reminded me of the importance of embracing the unexpected. The fog, initially a potential obstacle, transformed the hike into an extraordinary experience, offering unique photographic opportunities.
